Rick, I agree with you on the fact that "copy" does not mean necessarily "no value".
Sure. RenRen.com is a copy of Facebook, but this has value since it's well coded and does the localization work greatly, as you said. But they don't hide the fact that they have done a copycat of Facebook.

But in case of Keireki, I have the feeling that they do. There is absolutely no new taste.I mean we have already twitter japan and facebook in Japanese.

The value of being able to put your professional experience and education related information and your real name is real but very slight.
So let me modify a little bit my opinion on Keireki.
It's not a total, 100% failure since it brings a value.
But it s not enough to spread.
So I think they should focus much more on the idea of a Japanese professional network will real names...

Twitterの特徴はFollower/Followingという概念を導入した点です。
よって、Twitter上　匿名　兼　実名の両方が通れるじゃないですか。
なので、Twitteだけで、Keirekiはもうその時点でどうしても、どう見ても重複になります。

ミームのこの世界では、「くだらない」なんて概念ないです。
唯一概念としてあるのは、Spreadと Copy　だけです。

I would not call it a failure, but I would not call it a success yet either.

While the design very well may copycat Twitter, I don't think that disqualifies it as having no value. As you say, it does remind one of a mixture of twitter, facebook and linkedin. But I would not go so far as to say it brings no new value.

For example, the service Seesmic.com is a sort of Youtube/Twitter mixture. Nothing new, but in combination there is new value. The Chinese website RenRen.com (formerly Xiaonei.com) was a blatant ripoff of Facebook, but was nevertheless wildly popular because it was a good localization, with groups organized around schools and universities (Keireki does this too, incidentally).

Having said all that, I think the fact that the website has left you confused is probably the best metric about its success or failure from your point of view. No website should leave you confused.

そうですね。日本は匿名が主流だから、LinkedInみたいな、実名が載っているプロフィールを作り出すのはチャレンジだと思います。日本では、それは言えています。
そうしたら、実名での登録だという、もっとアピールするべきかと。
社会人のための、プロフェショナルなネットワークを生み出すのを目的とすんだたら、それを、サービスの付加価値として、明記に記入するべきかと思います。

因みに、紹介制のSNSって、例えば、ミクシーとかじゃないの、GREEもですし？

facebook（？当時最大のSNSってfacebookだっけ）が日本のローカライズを後回しにしている間にmixiが天下を取ったように。
bloggerが日本のローカライズを後回しにしている間にlivedoor blogが天下を取ったように。

ただアメリカのように雇用が流動的にならないとビジネス用SNSは流行らないのではないかと思う。
